Celebrities You Did Not Know Were Related

Hollywood is notoriously known is a closed society of the rich, beautiful and famous. It turns out that these relationships are not only professional and based on show-business interactions, but some members of this club are also family relatives. Actually, some of these connections may surprise you.

It may surprise you that these two mega Hollywood icons are actually siblings. Amazingly, the brother and sister have been collectively nominated for more than 120 awards (among others – Shirley’s Best Actress Oscar for “Terms of Endearment” and Warren’s Best Director Oscar for “Reds”). The two seem to have a great relationship, and Shirley even thanked her brother when she received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Barbra Streisand and Josh Brolin

Barbara, who’s considered by many to be the greatest living female singer/actress (and EGOT winner), is married to the famous actor, producer, and director, James Brolin. Their son is Josh Brolin, the star of many current films. He’s most famously known for having portrayed Thanos, the supervillain in Marvel’s Avengers franchise. Now that’s what you call a Hollywood family.

Melanie Griffith and Dakota Johnson

Melanie Griffith has played in many films, including her well-received performance in “Working Girl”. Her daughter Dakota is also a successful actress, having starred in the blockbuster “Fifty Shades of Grey”. That’s not all of the family’s connection to show-business – Melanie’s mother, Tippi Herden, famously took part in Hitchcock’s classic, “The Birds”. Dakota’s father, Don Johnson, is also an actor, and is known for his part in the 80’s TV hit, “Miami Vice”.

Justin Bieber and Ryan Gosling

Well, this one may be a bit of a stretch. Bieber posted his family tree on Instagram, which states that Gosling, one of the most successful Hollywood actors of this decade, is the Canadian singer’s 11th cousin, once removed. When he found out about this, Justin wrote “This is the best day of my life, I’ll host Christmas dinner this year.”

Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci

Tucci is married to Blunt’s older sister, Felicity Blunt. It’s pretty cool that the two both got to star in the hit comedy “The Devil Wears Prada”, where the portrayed colleagues working for Runway magazine. Emily is aunt to Tucci’s two kids, which, having played Marry Poppins, should come naturally to her.

Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson 

This one is quite well-known, but it’s worth mentioning that Hawn, who could easily be considered Hollywood royalty, is Kate’s mother. After divorcing Hudson’s biological father, Hawn has been in a decades-long relationship with another famous movie star – Kurt Russell.

Kelly Clarkson and Reba McEntire

This is a case of two immensely successful women from the same field, that also happen to be family. Kelly, American Idol winner and host of “The Kelly Clarkson Show”, is married to Reba’s stepson, Barndon Blackstock. The two are both in the top tier of female country artists in the USA, and have even performed together.

Dolly Parton and Miley Cyrus

These are another couple of country giants that happen to share a special connection. Dolly Parton, singer-songwriter (she wrote more than 3,000 songs!) Dolly Parton is Miley’s godmother. Dolly has shared a lifelong friendship with Miley’s dad, another country icon – Billy Ray Cyrus. It’s no surprise that Miley and Dolly often sing together on award shows.
